OLA to Launch Interactive App for It's Customers. With the stiff competition from Uber, Ola-India’s most popular mobile app for transportation has launched ‘Ola Play’, to enhance its customers’ experience while taking a ride in an Ola cab. Ola Play is powered by proprietary in-car and cloud technologies from Ola, by bringing advance car controls, choice of personalized content and a fully connected interactive experience for the user. It will allow users to change the music/song being played in cabs, to change the radio station being played in cabs, to alter the volume of the speakers and will give access to high – speed internet in Ola cabs. Mobile handset shipment this year is estimated to touch 265 million with feature phones forming about 59 percent of the overall market, research firm CMR today said. According to the CMR report, of the total shipment, 116 million are estimated to be smartphones. About 78.4 million handsets were shipped during the third quarter of 2016 while for nine months ended September, the total shipment was 197.5 million, it added. "In line with previous insights from CMR, the third quarter of 2016 for mobile handset industry in India ended with a strong reaffirmation of the fact that it would take a longer than expected time for India to become a smartphone-only market," it said. The phone will run on the Android OS with cameras on both sides.   After taking the telecom sector by storm with its lucrative 4G offers, Reliance Jio looks all set to launch India's cheapest 4G smartphone. As per the reports, Jio may soon launch a series of feature phones with 4G voice over long-term evolution VoLTE support. The phones could be priced as low as Rs 1,000. If the repots are to be believed, there will be two feature phones priced at around Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500.  Reliance may launch these phones in the first quarter of 2017. although these are feature phones, which means that there will be no touchscreen. the phones will run 4G data and will be capable of accessing internet. Reliance is investigating a case where a Lyf smartphone allegedly exploded and burst into flames. A man claimed on a social media site that his 4G Lyf phone, sold by Reliance Retail, allegedly burst into flames. The firm has taken cognisance of his complaint and promised a thorough investigation in the matter. The complainant Tanvir Sadiq tweeted -My family had a narrow escape today after @reliancejio's @Reliance_LYF phone exploded & burst into flames. Sadiq has also posted a picture of the alleged burnt phone and warned people from using Lyf smartphones. “All those people who have this @Reliance_LYF phone need to be very cautious and careful @reliancejio,” Sadiq said in his next tweet. HTC today launched the new HTC Bolt in the US with Sprint as the carrier partner, but the company will launch something 'very similar' in the UK soon. After the launch of iPhone 7 without the 3.5mm headphone jack, HTC is following the suit with its latest Bolt smartphone. The latest smartphone is an HTC 10 clone without the 3.5mm audio jack, a first for HTC.
